My husband and I have been associated with the Hiding Place (THP) since the early 80's/90's through the late Rev Henry Khoo

We are also amazed and awed by what God is doing in THP through Pas Philip and Christina Chan and the close knit, cooperative staff.

As a Christian Half-way House the goal is transformation in/through Christ and character-building, so lives can be productive…Praise God!

I began coaching in the English language for GCE "O" level candidate at THP only about 10 years ago, while they were in Jalan Kayu. Prior to that, in the 80's/90's as I was still teaching in the Changi Women's prison, THP would weekly send 2 mature residents to our home in Changi for coaching in English and Bible Knowledge. 2 sets came in the 80's/90's of these 4, some went on to the Singapore Bible College, into ministry in churches including one stint on the "Doulos" while others continued as staff at THP. Praise God for THP.

In Jalan Kayu, I found that the "O" level candidates were younger as is true of THP at vision Farm, Choa Chu Kang at just this was a little challenging for me as I'd had mature very self-motivated students in CWP. However as obedience to Christ and good character is emphasized at THP, I find the youngsters loveable though playful, hence lessons take longer to complete. The younger residents, advised and mentored by the staff and "senior" of THP soon settle in, and as they take on THP tasks and responsibilities assigned to them they mature and become more responsible and better inclined to be motived to put greater effort in their studies, resulting in reasonably good grade.

Many of these youngsters have gone on to the Polytechnics. More important and heartening are those who continue in their walk with the Lord as they go on to their working life.

As the African saying goes, "it takes a whole village to raise/nurture a child"

This seems true at THP and is helpful for me as I continue to do coaching in English at THP.

Praise God for His amazing love and mercy. He is good all the time!
