When you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
My name is Jeremy. I was a drug addict. To cut the long story short, I will not talk much about my unglamorous past. As I begin, I want to thank God for my Saviour Jesus Christ who had saved me from my bondage of drugs and the various kind of vices. I want to thank God for His salvation that rested on me and I am assured of eternal life.
May 2010 was my turning point. My mind was so mentally affected by the long run of drugs that had been used, so all of this is as much as I can remember. I was having hallucinations and I could hear voices too. Despite my mental state, God was merciful. He enabled me to cry out to him. I put aside the drugs and I looked up and prayed; "God! Help me!". That very night, I was caught by the police and being caught was a miracle. If I was never caught, my mental condition will be worsen.
I was sentenced to prison for 10 months. This time round I was desperate. I wanted to change. I was sick and tired of this kind of lifestyle. So upon the day of release, I volunteered to go to The Hiding Place and admitted myself into its residential programme.
The leader of The Hiding Place counselled me and told me to trust God to change me, for only Jesus can help me with my drug addiction. So I prayed to Jesus, I asked Him to forgive me and to come into my life to live in me and to change me.
It had already been 5 years since I came to the Hiding Place. I would say, Jesus has been very faithful to me. My prayers are answered. He had broken down every barrier of my bondages, He had set me free form my drug addiction. I’m very thankful to Him.
I responded to Jesus who called me through His word: Luke 22:32 “When you have turned back, strengthen your brothers”. I am now joyfully and faithfully serving the Lord Jesus at the Hiding Place as a full time staff, praying that the Lord will use me to encourage and guide the programmes here. I praise God the Father and I thank The Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
